Dear mi-seoul doctors, my name is Jay from Vancouver. I have receding hairline and the gap at my crown is becoming wider and wider. The doctors here do not recommend me getting a hair transplant yet but I am feeling more insecure each day as I notice my rapid baldness. Do I have to wait till I am much balder to get a hair transplant? I was also told by the surgeons that for 5000 grafts it would be 11000 Canadian Dollars. How much would it cost in Korea?
Hello Jay Prasad,
The reason why some surgeons do not recommend a hair transplant too early on is because it can cause some shock loss. What this means is that when there is not much room to transplant, the surrounding hair fights for blood supply. The hair that is strong remains but the miniturized hair that has already suffered thinning tends to fall out. The occurance of this is about 10%. The miniturized hair that fallen out does grow back but it grows back thinner.
Price wise it depends on FUT or FUE.
FUT 5000 Grafts - 4.8-5.5 million krw
FUE 5000 Grafts - 7-8 million krw
