SAL, Suction – assisted liposuction -A vacuum pump is used to create high pressure to obtain the fat and discard it through a cannula. It is a delicate method for extracting fat cells from smaller areas from the face, arms and thighs.
PAL, Power-assisted liposuction – This method is similar to SAL method but the difference is that it uses a motor driven cannula which makes the removal of fat easier and quicker. This method is preferred for love handles and abdomen.
Other methods that can be used include high frequency waves, laser assisted liposuction, ultrasonic waves, and waterjet liposuction.
