Lateral Canthoplasty
Lateral canthoplasty elongates the outer aspect of the eyes where horizontal enlargement is required. Vertical eye enlargement alone increases the size of the eye vertically, yielding a brighter , fresher and more expressive look.
A commonly used technique to perform lateral canthoplasty is through reconstructive orbital surgery. This method detaches the lateral portion of the eye with the surgeon carefully reconstructing it according to the desired eye width. This method will often involve manipulating the lateral tilt of the eyes as well. The surgeon then carefully reattachs the tissues to the suitable angle relative to that of the inner eye corner.
